FAQs

How accurate are these earnings estimates?

Estimates are based on industry-average CPM data and are realistic ranges, not guarantees. Actual earnings depend on your specific audience, ad inventory, video length, and YouTube's algorithm. The calculator accounts for YouTube's 45% revenue share and typical 65% monetization rates.

What is CPM and RPM?

CPM (Cost Per Mille) is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM (Revenue Per Mille) is what you actually earn per 1,000 views after YouTube takes its 45% cut. RPM is always lower than CPM. This calculator shows RPM, which is your actual earnings.

Why does audience location matter?

Advertisers pay significantly more to reach viewers in tier-1 countries like the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. A channel with mostly US viewers can earn 10-15× more than one with mostly viewers from developing countries, even with the same view count.

Why do different niches have different CPMs?

Advertisers pay more for niches with high-value audiences. Finance, insurance, and legal content attract premium advertisers willing to pay $20-$50 CPM, while entertainment and gaming typically see $1-$8 CPM because the audience has lower purchasing intent.

Does video length affect earnings?

Yes! Videos over 8 minutes can include mid-roll ads, which significantly increases revenue per view. A 15-minute video can earn 2-3× more than a 5-minute video with the same view count.

Why does the calculator mention Q4 seasonality?

Q4 (October-December) is the holiday shopping season when advertisers spend the most. CPMs can be 2-3× higher in Q4 compared to Q1 (January-March). This means your December earnings might be double your February earnings with the same views.
